Statistical Tests and Tools
Tools are needed to determine accuracy and precision within tests and testing materials. The following are a few terms and tests used.
Standard Deviation and Relative standard deviation (R value)
Confidence intervals
Detection Limits
Quantitation Limit
Sensitivity
P-Values
Probability of obtaining test results, or how likely the result is to occur
T-Test
Probability for two samples to originate from the same distribution, one sample against theoretical, or compare two sets of data.
Cross-Validation/10-fold
Data partitioning to evaluate independent data.
F-tests
Identify model that best fits the population a set of data originates from.
Quality Tools
Cause and effect diagram (fishbone/Ishikawa)
Control Chart
Histogram (bar)
Pareto chart (bar)
Scatter diagram (X-Y chart)
Stratification (I usually use a flow chart instead)
Box-Plot
